It's like... why does he look so... I dunno... effeminate? I always imagine Superman with very broad shoulders like this:

Though in either case, I'm not a fan of painted on abs (why does the suit have a 6 pack design?) a flat stomach sends a better message of power and strength. It's like when they gave Vaan painted on abs, just looks awful. But Aladdin has better flat stomach design.

i prefer superman not being absurdly jacked. it makes no sense, since nothing on earth should be heavy enough to cause his muscles to strain. He should actually be a fatty since he can't get a proper workout in.

The new design, which was seen in Young Justice I remember, just seemed like it was more... I don't know what the word for it is, but I always think "girly". Like it's aimed at a female audience more so, due to girls preferring the lean muscular look compared to the big bear look.
