Like how playing pokemon is after 3 gens. You're already good enough and just going through the motions.

no, I think they're fun. all the little things you can do to shave seconds off your time. I wish racing games were played more competitively to be honest.

I think it depends. Simulations are very dry, so you have to be a special kind of person to enjoy them, as is the case with other genres, like with many turn-based or grand-scale strategy games. While racing sims were a novelty (PS1-PS2 era), I had fun with them, but that soon ran out. I would say they're among the worst games from a fun perspective. Arcade or combat driving ones can still be fairly enjoyable though, like Mario Kart, Twisted Metal, or Crazy Taxi.

I miss PGR2.

Arcade games are very samey but any with a reasonably in depth simulation is complex enough to keep you entertained for years.

If you have interest in cars then you can enjoy them, they're like open world RPGs in the sense that the fun comes from what you're able to do, not what you're told to.

Shoot, that (I think) first circuit (the cylinder track) of the hardest GP in F-Zero GX can be won without even steering. Just hold down the accelerator and use your boosts.
