my rewards are slacking on my current card i feel, a capital one venture card.

i also have an amazon prime visa card, i bought it to get a 70 dollar gift card. only two ive ever owned.

My credit score is 764, and has been consistently rising, and right now my CC balance is zero. so maybe not something super swanky but what do you suggest?

While not a rewards card, I get 0.5% cashback just for using my normal everyday Debit Card, under the stipulation that the purchase was made via "The Tap" (their new thing)

Citi Double Cash is current best option. 2% on everything.

Depends on what you want.
Citi Double cash is the currently the best for cash back and is probably your best bet. If you want cards for travel rewards, there are a lot more options.
I use Amex Gold (Premier Rewards). It is good for getting free first class plane tickets with most airlines and has a lot of nice perks (last month my car died and they sent someone out to fix it).

$195
There is a loophole you can use to get a free $100 Delta gift card every year though, so it is really more like $95.

Ya, most high-end cards do. You have to factor it in when deciding if it is worth it.

Supremely fucked. You are technically required to pay it off every month (it is actually a charge card, not a credit card. There is a difference). If there is ever a chance you will have to carry a balance, it is not the card for you.

They charge you fees and dont let you make any more purchases (the card doesnt have a preset spending limit). If you have good credit, they will let you carry a balance at 18%-30% interest.

Oh god. That is a complicated question and there are a lot of articles online about it. It really depends on how you redeem them. It is really only good for first class airfare.

I've never had anything so my credit score is basically blank.

The card is irrelevant, though the limit can have an impact.

What bank do you have. Most of them have a great starter card that has like a $300 limit so you can get the feel of having a balance and paying it off quick. After 3 months of timely paying my limit increased to $3800. I have a Capital One Platinum

So do you pay interest on a charge card or just the annual fee?

getting an amex gold card sound tempting because the first year is free i recall hearing.

so thats neat, though it probably wouldnt be a good idea to just close the account after a year, so i'd end up paying long term.

But if the rewards are good that could easily be worth it.

I have a capital one card and i'd say with two one way flights cross country absolutely free I made out about equal to what the fees would be on amex, and it gives better rewards.

If you go with Amex gold, PM me and let me send you a referral link haha. Share the wealth.
Another option is the Amex Everyday Card. It is the only card that gives Amex points with no annual fee.

I cant do this right now. Though I should get more regular credit cards, as I started out never wanting one, then i got one, and found it was rediculously easy to manage, then i got the amazon card specifically to get 70 dollars free, its working well so far, managing two is pretty simple. I've been pretty regular with my cards, so my credit score has only risen as a result. right now its....765. I actually learned a tip today: pay off your cards each week rather than month.

If I was a little bit more financial secure i think amex might be for me, but not atm

Amazon has a pretty good one Amazon Prime credit card 5% of your amazon purchases come back as points and 2% at restaurants, gas stations and 1% everywhere else. You use the points on Amazon's site like cash.

No annual fee as long as you maintain an Amazon Prime account.

Yep. Although I do it by weekly since that's how often I was getting paid. First thing I did after my pay check was deposited was to pay off my CC balance.

Really though, Amex everyday might be more for you. It was the first Amex card I had, and after a year they sent me a 60k point promo to get the gold (which I did). I still have it even though I dont use it.
