Honestly, I had a professor who worked as a consultant for wealth management firms and had his own publicly traded mutual fund. He have me his Excel models + research and I just use those lol.

I just invest in 3 fairly different, but old/reliable mutual funds and don't look at it when it's going down.

Been averaging 15%/year that way. Good enough!

The only thing that's confusing, as mentioned, is the jargon around stuff like buying/selling (just so you can figure out your way around the various trading websites). After that. just keep buying, don't look back, chaching...

Haha, I just use it to fine-tune my portfolio. Definitely not necessary. I used it to tweak my asset allocation and basically max standard deviation. Definitely not something a typical investor would want. I was more referring to the core fundamentals of investing/diversification.
