There's an obvious thematic shift between new and old testament Gods, but I think there's another one between the Genesis God and what came after.

He's first depicted as this omnipotent creator who wills stuff into existence and just does whatever the hell he wants because he can. But then we get into more concrete stories of man and he seems to drastically shrink in scale. No longer is he some being of a universal scale, but some dude who only seems to care about 1 family, and 1 tribe of people.

Why'd he start out with all these big grand gestures, creating the universe, and then only take an interest in the hebrew folk? Even ordering them to kill other folk.
