I draw the line at using shitty old inferior technology because of some misguided sense of authenticity. e.g. fixie bikes and typewriters, but I'm probably a bona fide hipster otherwise, right down to the coffee and expensive speakeasy bars and "here's a bunch of fusion jazz from the 70s you've probably never heard of".

I hate things being pushed on me, especially if it's super popular already and people keep going on about how much I should watch/listen to it. and I tend to like obscure things which hasn't reached peak mainstream yet. and I guess I kinda talk laidback for everything, inc professionally
but i'm not sure if those are 'hipster'. I wish there was another label to use rather than hipster coz I feel like i'm a mesh of a few subcultures --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Mainly just with food. I only eat at two chain restaurants, the rest are all one offs. Oh man I'm a big hipster foodie. But I was fortunate enough to live with a great chef who gave me a ton of perspective on the restaurant trade, so I've stopped being that guy who needlessly criticises food without understanding what goes into it. His biggest pain was getting those part time food bloggers in who would complain that "the ceviche was unbalanced", like they even know the first fucking thing about what a ceviche is or whatever the fuck unbalanced means. Yeah absolutely - that comment goes on to touch on exactly that: But as hipster culture has grown in popularity and has itself become more mainstream, the central definitions of these various concepts have shifted from being chiefly substantive (or at least, substantive based on dubious perception) to being chiefly aesthetic. Being seen to be authentic has become more important even within hipster culture than authenticity itself. --- CE's Resident Scotsman. http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z316/CeliaOfTheSky/Pinky0926.jpg ...
