Also, while I haven't seen the hag on my chest, I have seen a mangled dead girl hanging from the ceiling fan Sixth Sense-style and twitching like the Grudge.

I don't think I've ever had sleep paralysis, as I sleep on my stomach. But this topic is giving me the creeps.

I've had countless times where I felt like I was falling, and jolted awake though.

Pretty much every time I've had sleep paralysis I was either like "drowning" or otherwise unable to breathe

This is what happened to me the one time I had sleep paralysis. I was semi-conscious and trying to scream help but my words came out as thin as air, like a whisper. Shit was scary.

Every time I've done that, it's followed by crazy-ass lucid dreams.

I've had times where I just couldn't fully wake up and move but never any of the weird shit. The movie Nightmare is good but I didn't like how a lot of the people project alien, demon, etc. stuff onto it. It's just your brain malfunctioning, which is scary as hell on its own.

I get sleep paralysis often whenever I sleep on my back which I try to avoid. I have seen the shadow man but most normally I get the feeling of drowning and just can't breathe. Now that I've figured out what it is though I've learned to just relax when I feel like I can't breathe and keep telling my mind to "roll over" which wakes my body up. It was horrible when I first had it happened and it still sucks whenever it happens.

There was one time I had this dream. I was in an octagon shape room that linked to other octagon shaped rooms, and in the dream, every room had some vague features from my house. But everything was dark when I was in any given room, while really brief/weird gray-ish light existed in rooms I wasn't in.

The octagon rooms linked to each other, so I'd constantly be walking around in interconnected and dark rooms, until I started running when I saw this weird, shadowy figure peer from the side of a doorway. Half of its body would come over the doorframe and it'd hold onto it with its hand. Had no eyes, but was clearly looking at me. I kept running from it. Everything turned darker and darker, I heard noises all over the rooms without knowing where it was coming from. Then, I woke up.

There, in the open doorway of my real bedroom that's visible when I wake up, I saw the same figure peering from the side of the doorframe with a vaguely shaped white grin and beady white eyes. It dipped back into the hallway the moment I got out of bed.

people see different stuff. it probably happens more than is told. no one really wants to speak of or acknowledge such things. thankfully ive never suffered sleep paralysis. there have been times when waking up feels like a bit of a trudge. as if there is a something to knock down or break through before i can. i just push past it though. im the sort that if i am talking in my sleep i will hear myself and focus to stop sounding all mush mouth; the focus breaks the sleep. it doesnt happen often though. as little as three times all together.

the weirdest thing that has happened to me while waking was; i rolled over and fell off the bed, woke up mid fall; all i saw was floor fast approaching. was weird. seemed almost like bullet time, the fall was not a great one, but somehow i still had the time to have a kind of queue of ideas while it happened. ok awake now, what, this is weird, is that the floor, uh; i must be falling, brace for impact.

ah, i remember on another occasion my dad came in >'we're going to the hospital' -'k, be careful see you when you get back.' wasnt actually awake though. a bit later he really comes in >' wake up get ready, your mom had a spill, her foot isnt right.' i asked him about it, he said the first time never happened. >'why would i say something like that as calmly as you describe?' i have a bit of guilt about that. i dont know what i could have done as an act heeding that warning. burns the noodle to think about such things too much methinks.

i'd like to think that i have a considerably potent imagination. people have said to me that the degree of my imagination can be vexing. 'get that looked at.' has even been suggested to me on more than a few occasions. although i am grateful that i seem to have the gift of some manner of limiter or boundary present as i sleep. though my dreams can be vivid, far and distant from the line, they are very rarely negative or scary. nightmares are decidedly infrequent. on more than a single instance there has even been censoring in my dreams. curses beeped and bare bits blurred. which is very strange considering my exposure to everything and how it is in these times.

Yes, the best way to stop a paralysis episode is to just close your eyes and relax. The bad hallucinations come from struggling to get free and freaking out when you can't, and your mind goes into extreme panic mode which fucktouples in intensity because of your semi-conscious state of heightened suggestibility making all your basest fears come to life before your eyes.

You can still get sleep paralysis on your stomach. It happens to me whenever I take a nap. Some people here mentioned feeling a weight on their chest, sometimes I feel a weight on my back. I think the falling sensation is common since I sometimes experience that as well. I've never had any hallucinations, but since I'm on my stomach and my head is sideways I'm usually looking at a wall or a clock.

No, I'm apparently boring.

I've never had sleep paralysis, no night hag or succubus, no shadow men, no ghosts, no grim reaper, no demons, etc. Nothing. I don't believe in an of that kind of thing at all, so I'm not even scared of the dark unless there are suspicious sounds outside or something. Which is annoying because my wife can't sleep alone in bed without the bedroom door open, with a window open, etc. because she's easily scared by those kinds of stories.

Hell, I sometimes wonder if I dream like other people because, 99% it seems, I go to sleep and then wake up with no sense that is dreamt anything. Even when I do have dreams or nightmares that I can recall, they're mundane. Just of normal, everyday type stuff.

I haven't had a "presence" in about a year, although I do get SP every once in awhile. It feels like i'm falling which I hate since I can feel it in my stomach.. Most times I'll go lucid and end up in a dream for a bit then wake up.

I've been able to induce it the very first time by laying on my back, relaxing, and counting in my head (1..2..3..) ignoring all other thoughts. After about 10-15 minutes, I noticed my body felt strange and I sort of knew I was in SP. The first handful of times, I did get freaked out, but now its more of my body being on a roller coaster.

other times id get a bright light in the backyard as if the neighbors are having a party outside at 3am.

i wonder what the interpretation of these are

another common thing for me is nightmares that seem to continue on from exactly where i woke up as i drift back to sleep.

"waking up" in my room from sleep, lying there but noticing theres a window where there shouldn't be or the room layout is somewhat different.

Yeah I've experienced her (not sure why I "knew" it was a she since I didn't actually see "her"), she jumped on my lap while I was sleeping on my back. I wanted to turn on the light but was too scared (in reality though it was because I actually couldn't move)

I never slept on my back again after that up until a couple months ago, and this happened like 15+ years ago. I've been sleeping on my back lately though because my shoulders have started hurting when I sleep on my side for some reason. It's pretty uncomfortable to lie on my back now due to never doing it for so long

Simon_Petrikov posted...
Nah, just the reaper.

I had this once too when I was sleeping over at my sister's house, It wasn't that scary though because it only showed up as I opened my eyes and it faded away after my eyes were open and I was awake

Simon_Petrikov posted...
How often do yall get caught in a dream loop? Waking up, getting out of bed, leaving the room, then waking up again (repeat)>?

I used to have this happen a lot but not lately. Always in the form of a nightmare where I'm alone in my house and the lights are unreliable and/or turned off and I have to try to get them on.

I actually had something similar happen night before last. In my dream, I was dreaming about the voices of kids screaming at me, and then I "woke up" and went and told my brother about it, and then I actually woke up.

fenderbender321 posted...
I think we see a hag because we are subsconciously afraid of our bitch moms.

This seems pretty likely, lol

I used to have nightmares all the time of hearing my mom stomp down the hall and then yell at me while I'm lying in bed (sometimes I'd say something back at her and then she'd rush over and hit me, which is weird because she never hit me IRL)

I've had SP but never saw anything, just kind of freaked out that I couldn't move and can barely breath, then snap out of it.

I've had a reacurring dream for most of my life though. In my dream I can kind of fly, or hover right above the ground. Basically it's in mid running stride/jump, then I bend both my knees while my feet are off the ground. I can then fly foward for as long as I want without ever touching the ground. It's weird because it feels so natural.

If any combination of shapes in your vision vaguely resembled a skull, you could hallucinate one when waking up from a dreamlike state.

The popping thing sounds similar to something I've experienced called exploding head syndrome. There are various manifestations of it but the most common is the sound of a loud explosion and the "feeling" of your head exploding.

When I experienced it, it was a bit different. I had a dream where I was in an alien spacecraft (and the aliens were all stereotypical greys with visible zippers on their backs like a cheap '50s sci-fi) and they put me in one of those "Matrix chairs". When they plugged the Matrix needle into the back of my head, I woke up with a flash of light and an electrical crackling and popping sound (and feeling!) inside my head, like an old tube TV. I learned it was entirely hallucinatory, but it felt like my brain experienced an actual electrical short from the inside.

Ah, that is most likely it. The "popping" noise definitely sounded electrical. It happened so fast I couldn't even react in any way other than an accelerated heartrate.

Derrick Henry (of Alabama and Tennessee Titans Fame) was the leader of the big black gang and was in for murdering his wife for cheating on him. I remember they were Folk Nation because I met a rapper named Rondonumbanine that was "second in command" and he was an active Black Disciple.

Cesar was leader of the latinos (I'm assuming they were Latin Kings).

Surprisingly don't remember the leader of the skinheads I just remember his face.
