Democrats could always feel comfortable with a Democrat in the president's seat. Not only is the younger vote turnout lower, it's not going to be high when Obama could effectively stop anything that his core voting base felt threatened them. Ergo, there's just apathy from the Dem voting base during midterms when a Dem is in office. This is different. Trump is in the news 24/7, his numbers are fucking atrocious, and Democrats are, if anything, not happy with the current state of affairs and perpetually angry.

2018 is state-wise advantageous for Republicans, sure. But 2016 was supposed to be a big, unbreakable blue wall at worst and a landslide at best for Democrats. Maybe this isn't the era to assume your party will automatically do well.

I'll definitely be voting, and I think 2018 will be an unexpected disaster for the Republican party.

It's going to come down to if liberals can behave or not. If they continue down the path of violence and destruction, they're going to have a hard time pulling ahead on Election Day. All that crazy horseshit is why Republicans control 2/3 branches. With Ginsburg flirting with death and Kennedy stating he plans to retire, Republicans are looking to take over the Supreme Court too.
