Don't you have to be mentally ill to do that though? It takes a lot to override your natural self-preservation instinct. It takes extreme emotional duress.

I mean, people say this...but i don't necessarily agree. I think it's possible to come to the conclusion, perfectly mentally well, that you want to end your life. Or more accurately, have your life end.

One of the reasons that comes to mind is people being diagnosed with a terminal illness. It's often very expensive, painful, and life restricting to try to fight certain illnesses and many fights not being good odds to begin with---especially considering how far it has already progressed. Many choose to live out their last few months until it becomes clear the illness is taking over.

No.

It happens all the time in times of war when people think they'll be captured by the enemy. Japanese warfare, especially during the 11th - 14th centuries were all about killing yourself so that the enemy couldn't torture you for information.

also can't you technically be bullied to suicide?

there's tons of cases where kids killed themselves cause they couldn't stand another day at school.

yes, that is an exception. The right to die thing with terminally ill patients is a pretty big issue. But what I'm talking about is an otherwise healthy individual just choosing out of the blue that they want to die. Humans are wired to do whatever they can to stay alive. If you no longer have the will to do that wouldn't that make you imbalanced?

Only other exception I could think of is martyrdom. Willingly dying for a cause or to protect someone else. But I don't think that happens very often these days.

Have you gotten in an argument with SJWs about those people or something?

No. August's post just seemed like he wasn't thinking of that. So I decided to share.
