I've not left the house in days. Ran out of real food yesterday and am eating whatever junk is left in the house. I want to go shopping but the idea of going to the store terrifies me. I know there are things I need to take care of, but every time I try to go do them I lock up and have to find a way to calm down. I have no idea what to do about this :/

Well get some groceries delivered (peapod etc)

Then seek professional help.

Do you have a doctor? You really should be seeing a doctor. Meds could help take the edge off. But you're going to still have to work to overcome your fear.

This. Call a psychologist. Agoraphobia is fairly common, but it's a serious problem. Call a counseling office, or even email them if calling is too hard. But get in contact with somebody.

Take a shower, put on a comfortable hoody and head out. Listen to music while you're out to block out the sounds of the outside world.

Holy shit, an alt that's NOT trolling? Now I've seen everything!

Kidding aside, I do see a psychologist and am on medication for bipolar disorder. The agoraphobia has only really started hard in the last year and I've not talked to him about it. Honestly, when I see him I pretty much just get rubber stamped for medication refills but it's the best I can do without any sort of medical insurance. I can't afford real counselling. The place I go to is income adjusted and honestly I'm lucky even what I get is available.

This is good advice. I recently bought a good headset with noise isolation. Maybe wearing it would help. I'd get some funny looks but fuck other people tbh

No one's going to look twice. I see people walking around with huge headphones all the time.

Why would you get funny looks? wtf

I'm from the south. This isn't exactly local style. I don't think I've ever seen a single person wearing phones here anywhere, and I work in Nashville.

Just how south are you? I live in southeast Virginia in the Hampton Roads area and I go outside with my headphones all the time and no one really says anything at me. Mind you I live in a rather quiet suburb. You should really try it out it helped me out.

Middle Tennessee, slightly south of Nashville. Murfressboro is a good sized college town but even on campus I've never seen anyone with phones.

Although thinking about it they might be wearing them under hoodies or something which would explain it. Hmmm... Anyway, lots of earbuds and the like for sure. Idgaf.

Aight guys. Wish me luck
