Truth.

How about some realistic issues for once? How about a guy who needs a tooth pulled and Rick just has to get a pair of pliers? And why is everyone's teeth so perfect without a dentist visit in years? What if Carl needs braces?

And what about the roads? Why are they so fucking perfect? Who's maintaining them? The zombies?

i think zombies in fiction dont even exist in that world

makes me think if that wouldve made it harder for zombies to spread at the begginning (in a world where everybody knows about zombies in fiction would try to target their heads first )

idk it kind of fits

Walking Dead has a continuous open narrative, it's extremely melodramatic, loaded with stock characters, there's a huge reliance on cliffhangers and other forms of exploitative storytelling, etc

from wikipedia:

The main characteristics that define soap operas are "an emphasis on family life, personal relationships, sexual dramas, emotional and moral conflicts; some coverage of topical issues; set in familiar domestic interiors with only occasional excursions into new locations"

that's TWD to a T lol

Fitting in with these characteristics, most soap operas follow the lives of a group of characters who live or work in a particular place, or focus on a large extended family. The storylines follow the day-to-day activities and personal relationships of these characters. "Soap narratives, like those of film melodramas, are marked by what Steve Neale has described as 'chance happenings, coincidences, missed meetings, sudden conversions, last-minute rescues and revelations, deus ex machina endings.'"

Once again, describes TWD perfectly. hell, think of the finale of last season, where you think Rick is about to be executed, and then all of a sudden out of nowhere comes all these friendly armies to save him, despite the fact that they had no idea what was going on

the two huge factors in TWD are

1. In that Universe zombies are not part of any work of fiction so this was entirely new to them

2. Everybody is infected, so if you choke on a pretzel and die you'd become a zombie. Which I don't think has been ever done before. This just leads to a shit ton of trouble

As other posters have noted:

1. Zombie fiction didn't exist in the universe of TWD, therefore at the start of the outbreak, most people didn't know how to kill a walker. When you consider that many people are told to aim for center body mass when using a gun, soldiers and cops probably wasted a lot of ammunition trying to take down a walker and likely got overwhelmed.

2. The knowledge that everybody becomes a walker when they die, even without a bite, wasn't information made readily available to everyone. Rick and gang only learned about it from that scientist. Most people probably got taken by surprise due to the previous notion that you can only become a walker from a zombie bite/scratch.

3. As somebody already noted, tons of riots occurred when they saw soldiers/cops gunning down seemingly unarmed civilians in the street so that likely didn't help things.

4. Zombies are also an ever present threat. There's no way to feasibly kill them all because new ones form literally everyday because people die every day. And if the human population plans on reproducing, then it's always going to be a problem. The only way to get rid of the walker threat is for humanity to literally go extinct.

Then there's also the general idea that people didn't even know what the fuck was going on when the outbreak first occurred. People just saw their loved ones acting all weird and next thing you know, they get attacked.

Also on fear the walking dead, no character knows how to talk about anything.

"Don't hug your wife who appears to be in pain, but I am not going to give you any reason to think that it would be dangerous even though I know that she isn't human anymore. I think it would be funnier if you found out the hard way"

I stopped watching like two episodes into the second season before I gave up, it's amazing how bad that show is compared to TWD.

I'm pretty sure nuclear power plants wouldn't explode if no human intervention were to occur. There's likely a fail safe where the plant shuts down and no explosion occurs.

I used to live right near a nuclear power plant, and a couple years ago something went wrong and one tower turned off immediately and ceased production

The first one doesn't strike me as anything that would prevent a coordinated fight, and the second one, that doesn't work because it becomes a pretty simple matter of immediate incineration.

I don't demand exact realism in my TV shows but yeah, Walking Dead has a really stupid premise, that a non-thinking corpse can somehow beat a logic-aware species that is particularly adept to organization.

Yeah, the second point doesn't really amount to much to be honest. I mean how many dead people do you come across in your normal life? I mean, people die, but they're not dropping like flies, so it's easy to control the situation. Sure, every once in a while you'd have a dead guy walking around wanting to eat someone's brains, and the local zombie control forces would be phoned and they'd deal with it, like it was a wild animal.

That one's tricky. Gasoline has a useful shelf life depending on storage, temperature, exposure to oxygen, and biofuel make-up among other things. After as long as it's been, gas siphoned from cars would run rough at best.

The show was so much better when there was less people to care about. They added way too many extra characters in season 3, and then decided the show should be more about politics and power struggle amongst humans, rather than the original premise of humans trying to survive a zombie apocalypse, and the zombies being the bad guy...which made the show like almost every other show and ruined the whole reason to watch it.

Resident Evil series made the same mistake...getting too political and making humans the bad guys rather than it being about survival against monsters.

It's the natural evolution of any post-apocalyptic series with zombies. Z-Nation is like that too. People would just get bored of repeated 'surviving the zombies" episodes. This actually happened with the comic series. Kirkman responded with the Negan story arch after finding out how popular his Governor story was. He had never intended on making long story arches with human villains, but that's what the fans wanted.

Thing is, many now are so decayed that they don't even have muscles. The zombies are looking more and more like the zombies from TROTLD. I will seriously stop watching if I ever see a literal walking skeleton zombie with its eyeballs still intact. Some of the zombies have come close.
