For healthy people of productive age. Universal basic income is obviously not really sustainable, but just ensure people at working age that can work are assinged to a job nobody wanna do and robots cannot do.

It wont obviously be a good job, or good paying one, be relocated to other cities or region, but better than doing nothing and receive money and become a leech to society.

Sure automaton will eventually take over, but there have to be something easy but only human can do. Or just put a regulation about a human slot in job taken by robots or something.

Sounds like a good idea. I think Administrator Breen was trying something similar and it worked out pretty well.

This is just stupid. It would cost more to have the person come in and do work that they are not needed for than it would to just give them free money.

Trying to regulate structural unemployment away is a really really dumb idea.

What purpose do you see jobs as having TC? What do you think is the primary reason they're necessary?

What if we had this back in the 1800s

Many people would have security as horse & buggy drivers or cannon-makers or something, and by the 20th century those jobs would be completely unnecessary.

Are they really earning that money though? The job has no reason to exist. In factory jobs, it would be horribly wasteful to hire humans, with an automated factory you don't need lights(climate control depends on sensitivity of the products), can design the plant more efficiently due to not needing to follow safety regulations and creating work areas for humans. Best bootstrap is free unrestricted money. People who have the ability and drive will figure out how to make more money and rise in society. The rest will be kept complacent and entertained so they will not cause trouble.

No it isn't

The cost to relocate people would probably cost more than basic income itself, considering they'd need food, shelter, etc. until they actually made enough money to make it on their own.

Then you have split up families, less spending, and just over all shit load of issues.

If the job is useless and either could've been done cheaper by a robot (but you're forcing companies to hire human instead) or doesn't need to be done at all then the person is still "leeching", you're just complicating the process in which they do so by being petty about it.

You'd have to make sure the job program produced more than it cost, or at least didn't exceed the cost of the UBI, otherwise you're wasting extra money on strictly for show jobs. So, if you could find the right balance of things that actually need to be done, cant be done or done cheaper through automation, and aren't more expensive than a UBI would be, sure.

This is a terrible idea. Might as well reinstitute slavery. Universal income makes more sense than consigning everyone to a lifetime of work. As we move forward, we need to separate income from labor.

You do know I'm making fun of the whole "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps!" notion conservatives love, right?
I'm for UBI, since automation is going to quickly make it a necessity.

Yeah, I could tell. Too many exclamations. Still, there are people who do think like that so it was still worth responding to as if you were serious.
