With all the raves I'm heard I was expecting some QoL improvements but the game feels practically the same.

It's an old, good game. Enjoy it. Some like SF I better. The Shining Trilogy (all three parts of SF III) is the best ever made, imo.

The best part of that game is when you start the game and play it until you beat it.
