I felt like listening to some Nirvana songs earlier. What is CE's opinion on the guy?

Well, rumor goes that he contributed a lot to revolutionizing the music scene at the time.

I think his famous main well-known songs worked, it was during that teen-depression, borderline garage band rock era, but he was very influential to that generation, so he has his place in history for that.

he did have great taste in music though, as evidenced by all the far superior bands he ripped off: Pixies, Melvins, Wipers, Gang of Four etc.

When considering how old you are, just count down your years until you were 18 and able to vote, then when you figure out how many years ago that was, think of how old your child would be since then and if they themselves would be old enough to vote as well.

Pretty much this. He wrote some catchy songs, but Nirvana is as over-rated as you can get.
