Why do Nintendo fans pretend as if the product shortages aren't artificial ?

When asked about Beanie Babies and how a single 6-inch plush toy could be "worth" $10,000 in 1999, everyone can agree it's artificial scarcity, and almost no one will claim Ty Inc [Beanie manufacturer] was stupid for the business strategy they executed. When a rare Beanie Baby sells for $10K on eBay, Ty Inc gets $5 while the scalper pockets most of the remaining $9,995 -- money that "should have" gone to Ty Inc.

Yet whenever the same question is asked about Nintendo, drones look the other way:

The shortages happen far too frequently, and across way too many product lines, to be a coincidence.
Wii. Amiibos. Numerous collector's editions of flagship games. The Wii U Gamecube Adapter. Pokemon Go Plus. The NES Classic. Switch .

They're not on purpose, Nintendo just genuinely can't believe people buy this shit so they only make a small amount.

It's pretty crazy how successful Nintendo is, in spite of all the silly business decisions they make. I do think about how much bigger they'd be if they just made sensible moves, especially with their big name franchises.

most i agree with. wii and the switch shortages i don't think were that bad. both sold really well. the wii definitely sold much better than expected. like it sold more than the gamecube did in like the first month. switch has only been out a month. sold much better than the wii u. but i don't blame nintendo for not putting out too many at once in case it failed. they still had plenty i think. dunno how easy it is to get one now but if you still can't get one by next month then yea there's a problem.

the nes classic is definitely the worst one. still plenty of people out there that want one so dunno why nintendo won't just keep it going throughout this year at least.

I dunno. Nintendo is such a backwards company that makes such boneheaded decisions, you can't help but wonder if they hate money. I can totally buy the idea that they run out of stock not because they are driving up demand for it, but rather they are just incompetent.
