I'm going to watch the Last Samurai today. Should I get Samurai Warriors to complement the movie?

if you had a ps3 or ps2 i would say check out Way of the Samurai series.

Part 4 isn't that great compared to the other three games. But they are super ambitious in their scope. i can't really compare the game to anything.... maybe shenmue meets GTA meets Mass Effect.

i know part 4 is on pc.

Way of the samurai is not a Warriors/Muso game. It's more of a cause and effect game. you can kill anyone or not. you can choice side and join factions. you can do what every you want. what ever choice you pick will effect the story of the game. Be honorable or not.

I haven't gotten SW 4 yet, but I have 1-3 and the expansions for the first two, and they were all good.
SW is probably my favorite "Koei Warriors" series, it seems to innovate...in good ways...more than the mainline Dynasty Warriors series does. Every character has their own moveset (no clones) and their own story (some don't get a story mode and others share some cutscenes, but it's not strictly one story per faction like DW was), and the enemy variety tends to be better.

it's not like that in every game. you apparently never played DW5. they have character stories in that one

Yeah, I played DW 3, 4, and 6. Skipped 5, and after 6 never felt interested enough to get back to that series.
SW on the other hand has always had character stories.

They are exactly the same and both have Tom Cruise so yes.
