My friend and I started playing this recently. I remember really wanting to try it years ago, but I didn't have a decent rig or a decent connection.

I'm enjoying it so far, but it's a little intimidating going in as a newbie. It's also sometimes hard to tell your teammates from enemies when dozens of players are running around in one area.

Anyone have any experiences with this game, good or bad? The PC and PS4 boards are totally dead.

It's more or less dead on PC and PS4.

Trust me. The first two months on PC were all going to The Crown, and avoiding the other continents pretty much, and then they died down, to the point where 2 or 3 players are able to lock down an entire continent.

I blame the lack of marketing from exposing the game to a wider audience.

Well there were definitely a lot of people playing when I was on last night, but I'm not surprised that players are dwindling.

For me the bigger issue is that those who are active in the game have most likely been playing a long time, so they've had a chance to get better equipment, learn the maps better, learn the vehicle handling better, etc. This is unfortunately the case with most long-running multiplayer games, but it seems especially true in this case.

I spent about 247 hours playing that game on PC some years back and overall I enjoyed it. I joined a small clan and we kinda acted like a strike force and selectively chose where to attack to support the larger clans in their assaults. I stopped playing some time before implants were introduced.

I mostly played support as a medic, engineer, and sometimes as a infiltrator or MAX. Despite my horrific kill/death ratio and throwing myself at the enemy only to die soon after I enjoyed the repetitiveness of the game.

I think the mass of infantry, vehicles, air supports, etc charging an enemy base while the defenders themselves tried out hold out only for stealth teams to sneak in and incapacitate the enemy made it really fun for me. It is also during these times that it is all too easy to die from any direction.

i play it on pc. it's pretty much pointless time. i don't have that much fun because i don't feel like i accomplish anything.

Funny enough one of my clanmates described the game as like being in Vahalla. We're constantly fighting and attempting to push each other back to our gates but at the end its all for naught.

That's a good way of looking at it. One thing that I like is that the shooter mechanics actually feel pretty good (especially once you adjust everything to your liking).

I remember trying that Dust 514 game on PS3 years ago. It was another attempt at making an "MMOFPS", but I remember thinking "they forgot to make this actually fun to play".

Calling the Terran Republic Elmos, the New Conglomorate Smurfs, and the Vanau Soverignty Barneys.

Both were widespread in the game prior.

Or how about spamming DEFEND THE BIO-LAB randomly in each post.

I don't know. Think of something. Spam it on Reddit and 4chan, until it catches on, and it spreads like a wildfire.

Besides, if you are successful in getting the entire internet to talk about an otherwise obscure free to play MMOFPS, you can be proud of yourself in accomplishing one goal in life.

And then not get any money from it because it is copyrighted by Sony Online Entertainment.

Simply flood 4chan and Reddit with Planetside 2 jokes or whatnot.

Dang it TC. I got the itch to install the game and play my light assault character again but I know I will just be cannon fodder in that game.

Flying around with the jump jets is so much fun!

But yeah... in the big clusterfuck areas... pretty much EVERYONE is cannon-fodder.
