when really they probably have average ability. Maybe they're at the top of their 2nd grade class. But compare it to every single 2nd grade class in the state. And they gotta keep their grades up

they go to college and get their first C ever because they got A's in high school all their life and they wonder where they fucked up. Guess they're not that talented gifted person after all

they never learned how to fail

and you need to be persistent through failure to be successful.


so maybe parents need to stop telling their kids they're the best student ever and make them realize that they're in for a long brutal trip and that they will eventually fail once in a while.
