Their issue stems from the fact that law enforcement is generally more willing to use violence (and guns) on black suspects and criminals out of an inherent belief in law enforcement that black people are more violent than white people, and black criminals are more dangerous. This is perpetuated by many law enforcement institutions using training videos and materials that feature mostly (but not all) black criminals. Hence, there is a subconscious belief that it's more justifiable to use violence (and thus accidentally harm and/or kill) black criminals than white criminals, and thus officers are forgiven when killing black men more easily than white men, both by their own institutions and by the courts. This is on top of the fact that police officers in general are seen to have a pass and minimal punishment for killing 'suspicious' people in general as a result of the dangers of their job. This disparate treatment is the issue that BLM targets, as they feel it's outrageous that there's a mentality it's more 'okay' to abuse and/or kill black criminals and suspects than white criminals, hence their reminder to police officers and the public at large that 'Black Lives Matter.'
