Chinese is way worse than German. Actually, German is one of the best, in top 5 for sure.

All Arabic and such languages are the worst by far. Italian sounds bad as well.

Japanese sounds like everyone is having an orgasm.

and that they keep saying the n word

especially when i used to watch anime >.>

LMAO what

IIRC the Japanese version of "uh" or "um" sounds REALLY similar to it.

you're talking about chinese

there are videos/memes/other dumb nerd things on it, just google it

anyway, ugliest languages are:

- chinese (mandarin, cantonese, the dialects, etc.)
- any southeast asian language
- some middle eastern language(s) i've heard (can't tell what it is/they are specifically)

and i actually like german

not that i have the most extensive experience with it, either, but i'm pretty sure most people's negative impressions of it come from hitler and/or caricatures in media

And without the Chinese language Japanese and Korean wouldn't have existed.
Factually wrong, the languages would obviously be different but to say they wouldn't have existed is a huge stretch. Spoken Japanese existed long before the Chinese writing system made its way into Japan.

The Chinese languages, the Japonic languages and Korean are not related to each other, it's not like the Romance languages where if you take out Latin they wouldn't have existed at all.

I should've said "written language" instead.
Ah, then you would be correct about Japanese. I can't say about Korean though, the whole point of inventing hangul was because the lower classes had difficulties learning how to write Korean using Chinese characters. It kinda makes me curious about what would've happened there.

Are all your exposures to Mandarin Chinese through the media where they only have a fixed number of accents and voices?

It is as if all of my exposure to Japanese are just high pitched girly voices and constipated male voices that I hear from anime and it makes me think that all of them speak like that.

And without the Chinese language Japanese and Korean wouldn't have existed.

lol, if anything, people's perception of chinese would be better if their only exposure to it was through chinese media

anyway, i'm half-taiwanese and had to live with my taiwanese mom and chinese step-dad growing up

i also live in the s.f. bay area, with my point being that, yes, i do indeed have a lot of exposure to it

it's a fucking miserable language, and the only people who don't think so are proud chinese people (who also un-coincidentally often bring up how their culture founded all of asia or whatever as if that means anything or matters in any way, especially today)

i will say, though, that mandarin can sound okay depending on who's speaking it

never pleasant in any way (or at least, not to me), but just okay

it's actually quite the shame, since chinese's bad rap undoubtedly comes from a lot (not saying all, just a lot) of its awful speakers, who are often loud, unaware of themselves, and generally mannerless

I've heard some really annoying Spanish where they speak all nasally and mumbly.

I guess it's not the language itself's fault, like hearing some annoying accents of English.

I don't know about Japanese, but the Korean word "naega" sounds really similar. It means "I", so it's all over the place, too.

"To run away from" in Japanese (Nigeru I think?) is pretty common stock phrase in anime so I can see a lot of western people doing a double take everytime the characters are running away from giant tentacle monsters.

yeah I understand, I personally can't stand the accent from Spain, I find the Spanish spoken by the Colombians, Chileans and Argentinians way more pleasing. I'm Dominican and we kinda butcher the language lol

The Japanese version of "uh" is just "ah" or "eeto". What N word in Japanese are you referring to?

I got mixed up with Korean, my bad.
