Trying to make a good Intelligence build character. Is it worth taking the INT up to 50? Or is 40 enough? I've never messed with Sorceries before.

I was thinking high Intelligence, high Dexterity, high Vitality, pumping a few points in Attunement and putting some points in Endurance. Probably leaving everything at base level except maybe Strength if there's a weapon that I want.

i've never actually made an INT build in Dark Souls.

I did it in DS2, and i stopped at 50 INT

40 is enough, really. I normally go 20 int for gargoyles then some in vitality then more int then some attunement then more vitality.
Usually I go something like: 20 vitality, 19 attunement, 10 endurance (to keep fast roll), 20 dex (for Ricard's Rapier) and 25 intelligence by the time I'm finished Sen's Fortress but I also go through forest to kill Butterfly so that nets me another 10k souls

Depends what your aim is and which game. If you're going to stop at SL120 and focus on PvP, 40 might be high enough. Go to 44 or 45 if you want to use Crystal Soul Spear. If you're just doing PvE and don't care about level cap, 50 is fine.

I did one in DS2 and I ended up going up into the high 70s because I really wanted those high level spells.

I did a int melee hybrid SL 125 (well only needed 123) build that's worked out pretty well

Pure int chars deal a lot of damage (to the point you can one shot phantoms) but that doesn't really matter if the person you're trying to attack isn't distracted. Otherwise they can easily dodge all of your attacks and kill you in a couple of seconds

Though I don't know if you meant Dark Souls 1 in the topic title

I don't think TC was talking about Dark Souls 3

You want 45 INT, I think. 34 attunement would get you 8 slots, which is more than enough, I think... as long as you aren't wanting to ONLY use sorcery, and not rely on melee combat at all.
