And so the current masterpiece is just the beginning. Plans for the next title are already in motion and, when you see that game, you may find that it is very different from Resident Evil 7 in some ways, while still retaining that core survival horror concept of people overcoming the odds. Resident Evil will always retain that essence.

So they're gonna try something different again while still trying to maintain a survival horror element. Wonder what they're gonna do if it's not gonna be first-person grindhouse style. I'm still waiting on my REmake 2 though...hopefully we finally see something at E3.

They got lucky with 7; really the first great RE in 12 years. Doubt they'll repeat their success.

there was no luck involved with 7. they just catered to the lowest group of "gamers". the youtube lets plays and the wannabes who play nothing but indie shit so when a slightly less wet turd comes along they think its a masterpiece.

Hey, RE7 was actually decent. A step in the right direction in terms of bringing the franchise back to survival horror at least.

I honestly don't blame them after 6

0, 1-3... still fun for people who enjoy it
4... classic, increasingly dated
5... fun to co-op at least, cheesy appeal, decent gameplay
6... worth a playthrough for fans, but I'm not ready to try again

So why not play it safe with 7? Just do something people like to play for 10 hours? It's scary for a minute there.
