This can be seen throughout the lifetime of The Biggest Problem in the Universe podcast where Maddox would try for far too long to argue his viewpoints. Maddox thought himself to be so smart and insightful that the audience would appreciate him sandbagging comedy just to poke holes in some argument about the broken window fallacy, libertarianism, Dick Masterson's opinion on Donald Trump, or some other nonissue that a more intuitive comedian would have known is an unacceptable waste of time. Whenever confronted about this issue, Maddox would always double down, presumably out of pride.
