Every time a girl logs into say, Okcupid, she'll instantly get like 20 messages right off the bat. And then the next day she'll have another 30 messages, all because she was logged in and listed as "Online" for that 20 minute window the night before. To go through each one and tell every guy "Sorry, I'm not interested" is unrealistic, especially when there's basically a guaranteed chance that the guy will want an explanation or try to barter or even do something like this. Not responding to a message online isn't like ignoring someone in real life. If you wanted to use that comparison, imagine walking into a club and 40 people instantly came up to you wanting to talk. I actually saved this one of some girl I tried to ignore who didn't get the hint. She had showed up to our date wasted (second date), didn't remember who I was, and kept confusing me with some other guy. I probably could have banged her, but she seemed legit insane, so I just wanted out. I tried just ignoring her, but she sent something like 10 messages, going from passive aggressive to outright insulting, even accusing me of being a child and saying she was "too old" for the kind of shit I was doing.
