I think the original saying was supposed to be "money itself doesn't give you happiness", meaning that hording your money and not spending it is pointless, and that you should pursue money as a means of obtaining happiness instead of pursuing money itself as a measure of success.

Because money absolutely buys happiness.

How could you not be happy?

Because happiness is fleeting and anything you buy will quickly become "normal," and you'll feel exactly the same as you did before.

This is true.

Happiness doesn't just "happen" and rather, it is something that must be worked towards. You really need to learn how to be happy rather than be happy.

I mean, being worry free is a good feeling to me. I grew up with nothing, but I'm in a good place now.

I suppose it's subjective, as is happiness. /shrug. whatever floats your goat, I guess.

Thing is being worry free isn't the same as happiness. Negative emotions aren't the opposite of positive ones; you can have both at the same time, and lacking one doesn't mean you'll have the other.

More realistically, if you come upon some money and can pay your bills or whatever, you'll feel less worried, and you'll briefly feel happier, but that happiness doesn't last. You'll just return to neutral, free of worry sure, but not happy.

But I am happy. >__>
I didn't come upon it, I worked for it.
Going out and doing/buying things makes me happy. It's not brief. I'm like always happy and worry free because I don't have the crap weighing down on me like when I didn't have money.

I'm not saying you need money to be happy. I'm just happy with my money and the things it can do for me. Again, it's subjective. We're not all made happy by the same things, but money makes me happy!

Contentment is the key to happiness.

(this is obviously the point of the phrase, "money can't buy happiness")

As long as you don't have to worry about your basic needs being met (food, water, shelter, clothing), your level of happiness is largely determined by how content you are.

lol no sorry too much money can destroy a person, especially if you're not well equipped to handle power. if you can still remain humble and modest despite being rich and powerful good on ya but most people can't.
