But part of the fun of going there early is fighting the legitimate final boss at the beginning and having that challenge. I agree that the ending should have been more satisfying(keeping the gauntlet would make sense, sure), but the battle shouldn't be completely gimped if you go there early.

You haven't even addressed the main complaints with the ending; it's not Calamity Ganon or the gauntlet(or lack thereof), it's Dark Beast Ganon and the abrupt ending cinematic.

For this video I was focusing specifically on the gameplay's climax; I might do a second video on the story's climax in the future. With regards to Dark Beast Ganon: I see that as basically an interactive cutscene that doesn't really need to be a challenge itself. The complete boss rush as seen in the game is sufficient for a final scenario.

But if there's any one complaint about the gameplay's climax it's Dark Beast Ganon being a completely unsatisfying gameplay segment. It IS a boss phase, whether you want to view it as an interactive cutscene or not.

Eh, I watched the video because the title sounded interesting, but I'm not really on board with your idea. I didn't even know that going straight to Calamity Ganon had a boss rush, for instance - I figured it would just be the same battle, but you have to do it with him starting at full health instead of half. I'm not a huge fan of mandatory boss rushes in video games, so I would not like seeing that if you do the game the "right" way by beating all of the main story. I don't see what's wrong with having it in there as is; it's the kind of thing that makes for an extra challenge, which is usually better left on an unusual path.

I agree with Carlisle that the Dark Beast Ganon fight and minimal cutscenes were a bigger issue. I'd add in that Hyrule Castle itself was a bit of a letdown, as I thought it would have been a good opportunity for them to put a proper dungeon into the game. It was just fighting a bunch of Guardians and Lynels that you could pretty easily avoid by just climbing up the damn thing.

Alternative view: Hyrule Castle was a fascinating attempt at an almost entirely exploration-based dungeon that rewarded the player for going out of their way to search every corner to uncover all of its secrets.

Superb job with the video! &, although the boss was underwhelming, I don't have an issue with it because I understand why it's like that.

I just beat it tonight. Whaaat's with the ending cutscenes?! or lack thereof. Zelda looks sexy from front, side, and behind. I look forward to seeing the cosplayers and their many options in botw. /randzeldathoughts
