but seriously the main problem with contests now is that vote totals suck and keep getting worse

nothing is likely to change that

back in the days people would try to rally and it wouldn't matter most of the time unless it was a really close match because the contest would get 100,000 regular voters with or without them

Which literally anyone can do on any platform they like with people that like the same game they do.

These things exist to bring traffic to GameFAQs. Nothing more, nothing less. And sometimes you'll get some jackass like me who decides to stick around once it's over.

theoretically, sure, but if Allen really believed all traffic was good traffic for contests, he wouldn't be doing everything he could to stop it from happening over and over again

where are all the Undertale and League people from those two contests who overran the things

They're not taboo in the sense that you can't do it, so I'm not sure what the connotation is. If you're trying to suggest that rally lovers get bashed or ostracized for it, remember that Ulti is on your side and my side is constantly having to make the exact same rebuttals to the exact same incorrect claims all the time.

I love statistics and rallies basically screw up any way to derive meaningful statistics and observations from the matches. I care about that almost as much as who wins or loses, so rallies essentially kill half the reason I love contests. There's not much worth analyzing from a rally other than "oh they rallied so they won" and there's no way to do cross-comparisons or anything of the sort.

I'm happy to have the cluster fucks continue, I just don't want them to be such meme ridden one sided snooze fests as we've had the last few times. At least make it interesting so I have things to consider.
