Western games seem to be losing their place. Look at Andromeda for instance. the original trilogy was amazing except for the last 15 mins of the third game. But Andromeda fails to recapture that spark

No, those things have nothing to do with one another. If anything, it's hipsters who want to look worldly and talk about how game's should experiences with enthralling storylines and all that nonsense. If anything, the (fictional) SJWs would be against all the scantily clad, stylistically proportions women. Of course, people on here like to blame the SJW boogeyman for everything, so I'm sure my post will go un-noticed while some asshole froths at the mouth about how games were better back in his day before all those SJWs and shit like that.

There's still stuff like Witcher 3. Japanese games also don't often win official GOTY awards.

Personally, I just feel like Japanese games have more soul. At least they're pretty much like 90% always more fun than a western counterpart. There's WAAAAY too much fluff and big budget waving in western games that get in the way. I don't think social issues have much to do about it.

Higurashi is a pure visual novel, so no gameplay elements at all.

I adored the VN, but it is a bit slow for the first few chapters. Theres 8 chapters total and expect to spend 8 hours at least per chapter, the last chapter is 15 hours.

If you dont mind it being a bit slow to ramp up, i think most people would love it. The overall mystery in highrashi trumps anything in phoenix wright imo, especially the big reveal of the who, what, when, where and why.


Basically its flawed but its great nonetheless.

The music in the game is second to none however. I dunno if the steam version has the original tracks, but half the reason the atmosphere is as amazing as it is is because of the music. No other game or VN has matched it to date except maybe umineko

Thank you for the response! I'll definitely get it if there's a Steam sale then! I really liked the anime so if it can expand on that then I'm down.
