Is it a particular fetish or is it just that they think boys won't tell on them in a society while young girls are more precious and protected in society, so they think they can "get away with it" if they molest little boys instead?

Just curious after Spotlight.

My guess....Because they're mot likely gay, repressed it because of religion, but still have urges they want to act on and using their position of power on someone who likely won't tell anyone makes it easier for them...

More availability of altar boys as compared to altar girls.

didn't say that at all, but i feel like its a combination of a lot of things...You figure they're born gay, probably into a religious family so they're forced to repress their urges. They go into an area that doesn't allow them to marry, but sexual urges don't just go away....All that comes together over time and they go after the easiest targets.

So not priest on priest action which would work for both like with gays in the army back in the day?

I mean who is to say that doesn't happen? Its just technically legal so we wouldn't hear about it. TC was asking just specifically about the ones who target boys and i can see how repression and potentially a life of a guilt could make some act like that....Maybe they don't want other priests to know what they're doing or that they're living a lie? There could be a lot to it, just a theory....

That probably goes on too, who knows.

There was a story out of Spain which for years was heavily rumored, but not yet concrete or known as an absolute fact, that supposedly there were some priests and nuns who were having sex, and there were dozens of babies that were thrown away due to abortion, well it turns out just this year that that story was confirmed and it was legit that the priests were having sex with the nuns and they were aborting the babies and making graves for them.
