My grandfather recently passed away and I think it would honor his memory if I could still enlist. I'm not saying one way or another as to whether or not I would or even could. I'm 31, and there are one or two things beyond my age which might make me ineligible. But, hypothetically, I think I would.

Yesterday morning, I was actually thinking about how I regret that I was never a soldier. If a full scale war breaks out, the age limit might shift to 35 in under. There's one medical issue which needs to be resolved, but I'd gladly enlist if I could get that taken care of.

I despise people that say this. Words are just words. You claim this, yet you do the bare minimum right now. Nothing is stopping you from joining the military now. Everyone (mainly on the conservative side, though some liberals too) like to beat their chest and boast their commitment to the country, but when push comes to shove, they duck for cover and bow out.

Man up, and join the military now. Back those words up. Or stop lying.

Sometimes people just need a little push to back up their words, an event where there's a necessity and an opportunity for them to rise to the occasion. TC's talking about a scenario where if America says "WE NEED YOU", he'll oblige.

Not everyone is a go-getter or a leader, you have to recognize this when you look at people who talks about their dreams and goals.

The Draft is a great thing if your national survivial is at risk or you don't have much of a standing army.

The very nature of war has changed so much that swarms of troops isnt even a viable move anymore for general fighting, let alone asymmetric fighting.

I have a home and a cat. Both of which are more important to me than some meaningless war. Unless it's a situation where we were directly attacked first then no.

But even then. Mid thirties with fucked up shin muscles, granted I've never been to a doctor for it and issues breathing in the heat. At worst I would get stuck on a base doing paperwork or something.
