Our contract (union Steamfitter) says that if an employer calls a rain out they have to pay us for half a day if we started work and it's before lunch time, and if it's past lunch break they have to pay us a full 8 hour wage regardless of if it's 2 hours past lunch or 15 minutes. If lightning strikes within so many miles (5 I think) it's a mandatory 30 minute work stoppage to wait to see if there is any more. I've made a lot of money playing my 3ds on days where we have really nasty storms. --- ~A little nonsense, now and then, is relished by the wisest men ~ TWSSted since~ 3/27/12 https://i.imgur.com/zlaENmx.png ... Yeah, I usually enjoy it. I don't do hard labor or anything, but I do spend a good amount of time outside, and I prefer when it rains.

I served in the active Army for 4 years, a lot of my job was outside and the rain didn't mean anything when there was a job to be done. I've spent hours being saturated doing my job, wasn't a fan of it to begin with but got used to it.

I don't have a problem with it. I worked a few years as a deck hand on crew boats in the Gulf of Mexico. Sometimes, the weather got pretty shitty. It's not fun loading heavy cargo during a winter cold front.

Yeah, that's usually standard for blue collar labor jobs rofl. Maybe if a person has some shitty 15-20 dollar an hour laborer job. I'm blue collar, but I'm a union steamfitter and I don't have to deal with that kinda shit. It's nice having a valuable skill-set so that you don't have to put up with shit like that. --- ~A little nonsense, now and then, is relished by the wisest men ~ TWSSted since~ 3/27/12 https://i.imgur.com/zlaENmx.png ... It's not fun loading heavy cargo during a winter cold front. Yeah i don't really mind the cold but if it's wet and cold you're not gonna catch me out in it lol. I usually take off from the middle of December until the beginning of March to just avoid the winter altogether. Being able to pick and choose when and where i want to work is one of the bigger perks of my job. I haven't worked for a single company all year long in like 4 or 5 years because i like to bounce around and try to have some variety. --- ~A little nonsense, now and then, is relished by the wisest men ~ TWSSted since~ 3/27/12 https://i.imgur.com/zlaENmx.png ...
