Will you work in the rain when asked to?

I don't mind working in a light drizzle for a short period of time, but if it's really coming down I'll either go sit in the break room and wait it out or just go home. My personal rule of thumb is once my socks get wet I'm going the fuck home.

Our contract (union Steamfitter) says that if an employer calls a rain out they have to pay us for half a day if we started work and it's before lunch time, and if it's past lunch break they have to pay us a full 8 hour wage regardless of if it's 2 hours past lunch or 15 minutes. If lightning strikes within so many miles (5 I think) it's a mandatory 30 minute work stoppage to wait to see if there is any more. I've made a lot of money playing my 3ds on days where we have really nasty storms.

Yeah, I usually enjoy it. I don't do hard labor or anything, but I do spend a good amount of time outside, and I prefer when it rains.

I served in the active Army for 4 years, a lot of my job was outside and the rain didn't mean anything when there was a job to be done. I've spent hours being saturated doing my job, wasn't a fan of it to begin with but got used to it.

I don't have a problem with it. I worked a few years as a deck hand on crew boats in the Gulf of Mexico. Sometimes, the weather got pretty shitty. It's not fun loading heavy cargo during a winter cold front.

30 degree temperature, 20 - 30 MPH wind spinning the load, icey rain and sea spray obscuring your vision, the rising and falling seas keeping you from an even footing, etc.

Maybe if a person has some shitty 15-20 dollar an hour laborer job. I'm blue collar, but I'm a union steamfitter and I don't have to deal with that kinda shit. It's nice having a valuable skill-set so that you don't have to put up with shit like that.

I never had to do anything dangerous really. So I didn't mind it. Was just loading trucks or vans mostly.
But stuff like scaffolding or anything where I could injure myself, he'll no.

Yeah i don't really mind the cold but if it's wet and cold you're not gonna catch me out in it lol. I usually take off from the middle of December until the beginning of March to just avoid the winter altogether. Being able to pick and choose when and where i want to work is one of the bigger perks of my job. I haven't worked for a single company all year long in like 4 or 5 years because i like to bounce around and try to have some variety.
