The sickest part and not many people know this but to write that scene he paid parents to let him watch their children wrestle naked.

To be fair, he doesn't remember writing most of his books. He was coked up out his mind for a lot of it.

Edit: what's really weird is that everyone knew he was drugged up out of his mind why didn't the publishers cut it out....what's ever scarier is what if they did cut the worst stuff out and the shit they left in doesn't even scratch the surface of what he wrote?

I don't believe for a second that he doesn't remember writing entire books. There's too much planning that goes into writing a novel and cocaine doesn't really work that way. I think he just uses that as an excuse

Didn't he used to blow out entire novels in like a month?

I dunno. The end of It has some turtle god garbage that totally lost me so it wouldn't surprise me at all lol.

It was supposed to represent the end of their childhood innocence. But damn maybe he could have signified that with something a bit more tame lol. I didn't need to know that the fat kid had the biggest dong.

He was high when he wrote a ton of novels in the 80's. I know that once he got good at writing novels, it can sometimes be a point where it's hella easy to just shoot them out.

Not to mention when he directed Maximum Overdrive.

The other thing is that once you get to a point where a few of your books become movies. (The Running Man, It, and I know he's a few others.) that usually a publisher will be like "Yeah, ok.. sure." to everything you pitch to them.

what scene

After temporarily defeating It as children, the Losers Club get stuck in the sewers can't find their way out. They start getting frustrated at each other

The boys then all take turns having sex with the girl (named Bev) in the group so they feel united. They then are able to escape the sewers.

There's some supernatural stuff to this because they lose their memories of it IIRC

That's not how Stephen King writes. He's explained many times, and going back to the beginning of his career, that he's much more loose and fast with his process than other writers. He's likened it more to unearthing a fossil, instead of designing a house. Nobody who is close to him professionally has ever disputed it.

I think I've seen him say that some writers start at the end and some start at the beginning. I've heard that he's mentioned that he just kind free-writes till he feels like the ideas being written turn into a good story. Sometimes this works great for him (personally I enjoyed his short stories more than his longer ones.). But I can see how this helps.

I did that a lot when I had to 3-5 page essays in college classes. It made writing about a subject I give zero shits about a lot easier.
