about a year ago, some former military tech guy was talking to me about satellite internet already being very good, it was just a matter of when it was going to get into public/private/commercial (non-military) hands

the main limiting factor was that the satellites had to orbit very low, and therefore had to use more fuel to stay stable

he seemed to think whichever company got "the contract" or in there first was going to make bazillions of dollars. i guess it's theoretically going to be google (?)
