Aren't Tekkens 3D fighters played on a 2D plane like Soul Calibur and Street Fighter?

Tekken and Soul Calibur both are full 3D. Street Fighter is 2D.

You can do sidesteps in both. Soul Calibur even dedicated the square button to horizontal attacks that catch sidesteps, while the triangle button does vertical or straight attacks that generally get beat by sidestepping.

I've always found online matches pretty easily, dunno if it finally died though

of course it's usually against 3 people who are level 999 but what can you do

Oh, I guess there are multiple online modes. Nobody was in the first one, but I found matches in the second one. In my first five matches, 10 of the 15 opponents were Raiden. I think that I mustered three total kills across those five matches. Most were free-for-all, though one was a 2-on-2.

In my sixth match, it was a timed FFA with me as Heihachi (who I learned through extremely small sample size and lots of Raidens was likely my best online character), and my opponents Sweet Tooth, Kratos, and Kat. I managed to only die once, and I used my Level 2 super move to notch four kills. I felt like I was either in the lead or in second with less than 30 seconds to go, but then Kratos got two kills, and I was nervously trying to get enough AP for a last-second super move kill, but time ran out.

I finished second to Kratos.

Dante

+ Awesome throws
+ Maneuvers well
+ Aerial combos are off the charts
+ Extremely powerful

+/- Super moves are on point but also slow enough to be able to dodge if you aren't in a compromising position

- Slow attacks are more pronounced when there are 3 or 4 combatants in play
- Guns are useless
- Might have the most avoidable attacks
- I want to punch his smug face from the results screen every time

Bottom Line:
I can't put my finger on it, but he feels like he doesn't belong in this game (has nothing to do with his source material). However after a few matches, I was really able to put aside some of the glaring flaws that he has because he is probably the most fun character I have played thus far.

Nathan Drake

+ Even though it features a lot of guns, his moveset seems the most unique
+ Plenty of disruptive moves

+/- Jack of all trades, master of none

- He has a steep learning curve
- Struggles against fast opponents, small opponents, and (gulp) fast and small opponents due to it trimming the moves that will work on them

Bottom Line:
I certainly have mixed feelings about him. He seems to best suited as a complementary piece in a 2-on-2 match.

Drake's level uhhhh I wanna say 1 where he tosses the barrel and shoots it used to be f***IN AWESOME and then they nerfed the hitbox so it's alright but less awesome than it used to be.

I just downloaded the patch tonight, so it seems that I would have felt a lot differently (about his level 1 Super Move anyway) if he showed up on the random selector in the days before.

People used to spam his barrel kick non-stop because of how much AP it got

Kratos

+ Has power, reach, and accuracy without sacrificing attack speed
+ Every super move is useful
+ Wide variety of moves
+ Can string together crazy combos. That being said...

- The fluidity of his attacks didn't translate from God of War and can be a bit more challenging to pull off aforementioned combos

Bottom Line:
Arguably the face of Playstation, Kratos got the royal treatment from the developers in having oodles and oodles of positive qualities with very little in the way of drawbacks. He compares quite well to Dante but with faster attacks.

Raiden

+ Quick on the attack, quick on the move
+ Easy to build up AP
+ Excellent first two super moves, with the first being one of the best Level 1 super moves

- Overtakes Heihachi for most vanilla moveset, and with his being about blades and not melee, he also has the most boring moveset
- Worst Level 3 super move
- Not that any of the individual "stories" are interesting or worth anything, they really phoned in Raiden's

Bottom Line:
I can see why a lot of people use him online (not to the tune of 60% in my small sample size), but he just doesn't meed my standards of fun aside from pulling off multi-kills with the first super move.

I remember not really caring for Raiden either. Although most people I just did their story mode and that was it. My "main, if you could even call it that based on how little I played or got into it, is probably a pretty unique one that hasn't come up yet. I'm curious to see how that one gets ranked.

Spike

+ On paper, his moveset seems fun
+ Standard square combo plus some throws plus Level 1 super move can rack up plenty of kills. But...

- That can get very tedious because...
- In reality, his moveset is not fun
- He is painfully slow and stiff
- You can see all his attacks coming from a mile away
- He doesn't have a nose
- He sounds like a wet blanket

Bottom Line:
After playing through characters like Kratos, Dante, and Nathan Darke, I have to wonder "How?" and "Why?" in regards to almost everything about Spike. How could the developers not realize that he's going to struggle against just about every character manned by competent humans and top AI?

It is not Spike. That's definitely someone I only played going through story mode with him, I don't even remember anything about him, other than obviously he wasn't much fun to play as.

Big Daddy

+ He's an absolute mauler. He has so many short-range attacks that can launch people clear across the level (I suppose that could be a bad thing in some circumstances)
+ While not amazing by any stretch, he has actually some long range attacks that are decent, especially the lightning one
+ His downward triangle attack is devastating when you can trap 2 or 3 players
+ In perhaps what is my favorite moment in the game so far, I knocked back Drake's annoying barrel attack with a quick flick of the drill.

- Fight has to come to him
- Basically can't dodge
- Every player reacts the same getting hit, so his lack of speed unfortunately isn't mitigated with a shorter launch distance (defensively)
- Level 1 super move takes some getting used to and is easy to disrupt or dodge

Bottom Line:
For anyone who was familiar with Big Daddy prior to playing the game, he is mostly what you'd expect. His glaring flaws make his ceiling lower than most and basically committing suicide if you choose to play him online. This also isn't an archetype in fighting games that I tend to like, but despite all that, I oddly enjoyed playing him.

My mains were Heihachi at first then Dante became my main. Other than them I like using Parappa and Raiden.

lol what a coincidence, that's how I obtained my own DLC voucher, I had a friend who bought Ascension and thought he'd never buy All-Stars so he gave it to me, but one day I brought All-Stars over to play and he was hooked and bought his own copy.

I got all the DLC characters free when they came out. They were each free for about 2 weeks upon release

I am not interested in the characters but the stages. I have never played the games that they are based on, but I was more curious as to their integration with Wipeout and The Unfinished Swan, both of which I do have a history with.

+ One of the few characters that feels great jumping around with
+ Great throws
+ Poor man's Kratos in many ways

- Poor man's Kratos in many ways
- Lacks a killer move that I can turn to while in a bind
- Lackluster super moves
- Must be made of glass or something because even the tiniest thing throws her off-balance, disrupts her attacks, or sends her flying across the map

Bottom Line:
Calling her playable doesn't do her justice but being an inferior version of another character with significantly more holes in their game gives me very conflicted feelings.

Evil Cole

+ His movement speed stood out to me, and it allows you to crash any party in no time.
+ If you can get someone in the air, you are in complete control

- His speed comes with the drawback at being a bit hard to control
- His attacks can be hard to connect
- Not strong in the super move department

Bottom Line:
It's fun zipping around on the stage, but unfortunately, this isn't a platformer but a fighting game. While I did start to get in some sort of a groove with him, I don't think that I will ever be truly comfortable with him. I don't mind unorthodox, but I don't feel like having to tame him over and over.

I have gone through 14 arcade modes, 5 or 6 online matches, and about 15-20 combat trials, which means I have played 130-140 matches total.

I have yet to play on the inFAMOUS or Jak and Daxter stage. How is that possible?

Evil Cole is one of my best. He was like Fast Princess for a while, considered OP because his charged O punch was a guaranteed setup for his level 1 super

Not sure if it's still that way or not

+ Better control than evil version
+ Better super moves than evil version
+ Better projectiles than evil version

- Noticeably slower movement speed than evil version
- His attacks can be hard to connect
- Seems to be a little more difficult in building up AP

Bottom Line:
I hope that the overwhelming majority feel that this is the superior Cole. There really isn't much else to say
