So, I've been looking around my small town for any arcade locations left, and the only spot I could find (and I mean the ONLY one) was the handful of arcade machines in our Movie Theater lobby. I suppose I could drive for an hour to find a Frankie's or D&B, but that's a pain.

Honestly most of the D&B's I've been to have been fairly disappointing as far as arcade games go anyway. The majority of their stuff seems to be more geared towards ticket games.

Rly??? Dang, that seems to be a sad trend at Frankie's as well. There are very few actual GAMES anymore. Most of the things you see are those cash-grab "gimmick" games (where you have to hit the button at the right nanosecond to win).

I'll always have a love for Skee-Ball though. That's one "gimmick" game that never got old to me.

Man, that baseball game is old-school. Some of those old "sports" games were fantastic (and even impressive, from a technical standpoint).

For example, my Chuck-E-Cheese (called "Showbiz" at the time) had a Hockey game with foosball style handles (where you could move each player up and down a track, and twirl the handes to spin the characters / shoot. The entire table was encased in a glass dome so you could see everything, but you couldn't grab the puck or fiddle around with the players.

If I find a pic of one of those machines, I'll post it.

The hockey game is "Chexx bubble hockey" or something like that. A working one goes for about 3k. I just picked up one of those baseball pinballs last weekend, it's not exactly the same but it's very similar. The old ones like that don't have any electronics at all, it's just relays and coils, pretty amazing really.

I picked up a decent Donkey Kong too

Super chex!
Amazing arcade/bar game.
My friends and I used to get into really heated battles playing both that and air hockey.

And very cool that TC has his hands on a similar baseball game. I have spent far too many quarters on them over the years in a Myrtle Beach Arcade (Even last summer...)

Two questions: how old are you, and have you always lived in that area? Because my family used to go to Myrtle Beach on vacation ("regular" Myrtle, not North Myrtle), and I remember the biiiiiig game room in The Pavillion. It must have been almost a city block square, they had everything.

32 and I've lived in SC for 17 years.

If you think that place is cool, check out Players Choice in the Myrtle Beach mall

I lived in SC from 1998 through 2015 (also 17 years), but I didn't actually visit Myrtle Beach until 2008.

When I went there, it was just Mini-Golf spots everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE (each with their own little arcades, but mostly golf). My wife and I spent an evening just riding around to Mini-Golf courses to try them out.

Players Choice is awesome, they have some good deals hidden away! Just don't trust them with their 'new next shipment' spiel.
I spent a few good dollars in there but did not play any of the arcade games as I was too busy looking though the rest of the store. Really cool store.

The pavilion was awesome, I remember playing janky VR games in the 90s there. I don't particularly remember the arcade specifically inside the pavilion.
But! I do remember back then they had awesome arcades all over the place. The boardwalk next door had a few (some still exist, like the one with the baseball game!), boardwalk on the beach had a really cool 2 level one, the oceanfront waterpark had a big one as well as Family Kingdom across the street.

And if you go to MB without playing mini-golf at least once, you are doing something wrong.

Restocked today and I just about broke even/actually made a little bit . I took out a few things that weren't selling or about to go bad but I'm not counting those as a loss because they'll happily get eaten at home. I moved the candy from $0.90 to $1, I noticed people would often forget to get their dime change and it's still better than the $1.50 for em at the gas station
