Haven't been able to find work after losing my job at the end of the year, so until I can find something good, I'm hoping to work at this head shop.


Pay is only a couple bucks above min. wage but you get commission.

I think I could stand working there for awhile.

Nope. My manage quit when our Head of Ops (for the company) kept being a p***** and not doing anything to help his department. I took over his job for a month and apped for it but the head of ops hired someone who had been a manager w/ sears and dillards (remember, I worked in a copy sales company in Operations) as his replacement.

She didn't know jack and tried to change everything to how she thought it would work better and fired like, half our team (we were already short handed). She threw me under the bus when we had a lease return that she had sent back to the leasing company go missing. She sent it out while I was on vacation in St. Louis to see the Foo Fighters. She claimed I tried to sell the machine out the back door. I had no paperwork on the machine ever leaving the building, so I couldn't prove that I didn't do it (remember, she's the one that sent it back, which means I know she destroyed all the paperwork for it, so it was my word against hers). This is after I got approved for the single largest hourly raise in the companies history and had been accepted to the management development program (5 people in the company were accepted each year to prep them for managing their own department at a branch).

I've since found out she fired the rest of the people that worked in our department and brought in her own people from her past jobs.

Funny end to the story though....

The Head of Ops lost his position after the Memphis branch went to s*** (after she fired me. I pretty much kept the dept together after my manager left). Before he lost his position, he got my ex-gf fired from her position (that she had been promoted to year before last after working there for 5 years in the same position I held in Memphis), and then he got pushed into her job losing all his nice little Board perks. She sued them for unlawful termination and got a settlement along with a severance package.

The manager they chose to take over the Memphis dept? She literally fired everyone that worked there under my old manager (who had brought together the team [including me] that brought the Memphis branch into the number one branch slot in terms of speed, accuracy, profit and a 100% reliability out the door on copier set up), and brought in people she worked with before. The branch is now in last place in all the measured groups. Funny stuff.

Also, I'm not one to say "ya know, this may have been race related", but she is black, she fired all the white people and brought an entirely black crew in, so there's a small possibility it could have been. She never had a truthful word to say to any of us in the dept (a very two faced woman to us) and constantly fought us at every turn when it came to inter-department conflicts (like a sales person promising delivery to a location that we literally couldn't get to because all our trucks were delivering to another state that day).
