Whenever I open a movie now, Windows 7 reverts to Basic instead of Aero because it claims VLC isn't compatible...but I was having NO problem before this week.

That happened on one of my really ****ed up computers. Never figured out how to fix it. After a while all my videos just stopped playing entirely unless I reset the computer.

I get the same problem when playing certain games (e.g. Battlefield 3). Just change it back to Aero afterwards (and if that doesn't work, restart).
