Rappers will have 24 hours to post their verse, which needs to be identical (you may fix typos and the such) to the most recent one you sent me. Next, the Tribunal will have 24 hours to vote, also by sending their votes to me that way it'll be their own opinion and not clouded by another judge. They will also have to provide at least 2 lines of analysis to prove they actually read the battle.

BBallMan surprised me with his grasp on internal rhyming, I really enjoyed his verse. It was smooth to read which is always a plus for me. But frost has been one of my favorite writers I've seen on these boards for a long while. His pattern game is quite unique, very unorthodox in spots. Interesting subject matter, original concepts with articulately placed bits of subtle wordplay punched in.

Then again, I have no context for how he wrote it and how to spit it, so it's not really a good judgement. You guys should both record these and see how they sound.

you should really chill on pushing your opinion on what you think people should or shouldn't do, repetition isn't a magical spell that will make people regard your opinion differently, maybe we find more entertainment/enjoyment in writing/reading creative lyrics and punchlines or messing with rhyme schemes in a loose manner or writing in a way that could be flowed in multiple ways, maybe we just prefer writing, you're like the guy who b****es the whole time during an activity because it isn't being done the way you want to do it

Board 8 does a rap battle thing like once a year and we generally start off really hot with lots of participation and then it grinds to a halt once people start getting eliminated.
Anyway, wasn't expecting much from frostbyte (no offense I've never seen you before) and I know how hard BBall goes, so I'm really surprised and thrilled to see how close it was.

I'm really intrigued about the impact the rap board could have here, and this match shows why well. My first thought upon reading BBall's was that he had slightly "toughened" his style up; more akin to something you'd hear in a, you know, actual rap battle rather than the "who can make the best video game reference" snark-offs that the B8 tournaments often descend into. It suited his style well, though, and his wordplay was typically good too. The rhythm stuck with what has become relatively standard here, but I think that's a good thing as it's very easy to follow, and for all this **** is fought out entirely in text I can't get behind something which I can't hear in my head.
Frostbyte's, meanwhile, was totally outside what we usually see here (DC perhaps aside). The first half flowed beautifully, and featured probably the best wordplay in the match. As it went on, though, the rhythmic ambiguity kind of went off the deep end, to the extent that I struggled to find any obvious points of pause in the final three lines. You only needs to check out the gradient of the text to see how it spiralled out of control. I'm all for a little more diversity in rhyming styles, but I think of a verse as something a little different from a scattershot collection of rhythmic disses, and this lapsed into the latter near the end. The punchlines themselves were pretty clearly superior, but I would've enjoyed them way more had they been reigned in a little in terms of syllable count.
Great match though, really enjoyed the juxtaposition between the styles. Gonna give this one to frostbyte, but a laudable start from both guys. Nicely done!
Dilated Chemist
Pretty close matchup. Frostbyte had the hardest hitting punchline and very good internal rhymes in the beginning , but as his verse went on I had to read it over a few times to catch the rhyme scheme/rhythm and I wasn’t feeling the ending, particularly the last 4 – it seemed rushed and incomplete. BBallman had more consistency throughout, and had better wordplay with frostbytes name. His rhymes weren’t as complex but it did flow much better. Both came up with some pretty good punches, it’s close but I’ll give the slight edge in this one to BBallman7.

Okay so here we have Bball open in second gear, drops into third on the word Axes and he builds my attention through the always visceral human centipede reference and then:

This is filler for BBallman7 and I have no earthly idea what the last line is even supposed to mean, lord knows I've stretched the limits of coherency in my rappin career but I'm sorry why are you suing his dad? Anyway the rhyme scheme picks back up and the imagery leads to the verse ending with him symbolically shakin his fist rappin cheeky threats about your dental plan through gritted teeth - it's a classic debut but will it be enough to make Frostbyte cower?
Okay so this guy FB76 has sixteen bars and he plays it slow for the first eight goin around the same sorta rhyme scheme and jabs at flaccidity trouble and what have you so it's like "okay there's a hint of style here" and then he drops the best four lines of the match

the first one has a nice internal rhyme at the end and I like how he broke up "that's the day I pass away", and "son of a b****, actual bastard" is pretty funny.
However, the last few lines are stumblerific and though they're more conclusive in content, the breakdown of rhyme scheme (barely saved by cool as f***/pool of blood) causes me to cock my eye at it. Still, I'm giving this one to Frostbyte for better presentation.
Alec the Champ
I feel like BBall was more consistent through his verse while frostbyte was more ambitious with mixed results. Top marks on the "honeys + flight of the bumblebee the erectile dysfunction/reptiles disgustin lines which were probably my two favorites of the battle, but I didnt get much from the ending. BBalls lines were overall more solid, and I liked the variations on frostbyte (though I wish we knew people better here so this could get more personalized beyond names), especially the overbyte finisher.
Ive been vascilating a bit while writing this, but in the end I gotta go with BBall.
PS: Bballs flow was also easier for me to follow but I left that out of my decision because flow is so hard to judge in this format.

Voting for frostbyte. BBall's didn't impress me too much, though I did like some of the wordplay (98 degrees outside was probably the best). frostbyte's had more complex disses and rhymes, but more importantly it had more of a punch to it. The erectile dysfunction line was gold.

^ ya i go with what seem like real unorthodox rhyme schemes on paper, it can totally seem all over the place, like every 2 bars 'flows' differently from the last, definitely not conventional and even seems awkward at times but that's how i like to write since it leaves it very open to the readers own interpretation, like it could be flowed differently from how it's structured i gotta give props one more time to BBallman since his verse was just mega clean, reminded me of some PoP s*** (who is basically the unanimously decided best writer on the rhh board), i don't take that effort to construct something that well, once i start i just keep writing in what seems to me to be a natural progression

Footnoting raps with like this (to the tune/beat of X) I think is the most sensible alternative to actually recording a verse in real time - an initiated cadre of judges can use these as references to clear up rhythmic ambiguities and we avoid the can of worms involved with having to judge people's beatmaking talents as well as their lingual acumen.
That said, I'd die to hear Giggs kill some ambient black metal beat with his scottish accent
Great match Frost. And yeah there was definitely some filler in there, the sue his dad thing went with a line I ended up not using and by the time I realized I hadn't got rid of the "sue his dad" part DC had already posted the topic thus making it too late to change it.
