Hey, remember that board game that used to be around here? Mercenaries? Yeah. I used to be involved with that and I'm just wondering how things went. It doesn't seem to be around anymore, after all.
Sorry if this is an obvious question or something, I've been gone for a long time. But I started getting nostalgic, and I figured I'd at least ask.
Mercs 3 ended last fall. It was pretty long and drawn-out, so we decided that it'd do the project good if we all took a break for a while. Currently, we've started work on m4, but somewhat lazily. We've decided that we want to have releases planned up-front (since a big problem in m3 was long gaps during results), which is going to take some time.
Hey Drak! Long time no see, yeah. That's cool, and probably a good idea. I remember doing a lot of improvised and rushed stuff during my stint as an admin, so the game could definitely do with more structure. Actually, would it be possible for me to help out a little? I don't know how involved I'd be, or if I'd be an official admin or anything. But I'd like to do a little bit, at least.
And yes, I knew you'd keep a journal! They're always interesting. Do you still have the first two, by any chance? I looked around for them when I first started getting nostalgic, but no luck.
I need to re-upload my first two journals. My 110MB site got randomly suspended (I'm still not sure why) and I never bothered hosting those journals elsewhere.
We are currently hanging out on irc at #gamefaqsmercs on dejatoons. Though the chat is kinda dead a lot of the time. And also I'm not in there at the moment because irc is kicking me. >_>
also dante I am not sure what you are getting at I encourage you to articulate your opinion more precisely

"the only match where I wasn't able to convince the multitudes of people I tried rallying was there one where someone literally made an unstoppable being of god against the weakest members of my team, where the only argument I had was a terrible freeze spell that is easily dodgeable by moving slightly to the left"

I have also since actually bothered to play Painkiller, and am left wondering who in the hell thought it would be a good idea to give Garner more cards than he actually gets in-game when one of those cards makes him fast enough to *outrun his own bullets*

Spamlock with freeze is perfectly reasonable, particularly since your guy was surrounded by several enemies -- you're assuming perfect dodging on his part, which is arguable but by no means certain.

He starts on the ground, though. At least that's standard interp. Were you around for the time that Gen tried arguing that Bowser's clown car would begin the match high in the air outside of melee range? It was pretty funny.

That kind of made sense. Why would it start on the ground? Damn thing doesn't even have any landing gear. I have no idea how Bowser parks it without it toppling over on the propeller

Mercs 3 got gut shot by some higher ups and some people made sure it bled out very slowly.
