Yeah, I read it exactly the same way.

And I've totally picked up a game just because it seems to be popular and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I started playing FF7 right after summer contest 2003, for instance.

Well I was looking at it more like "wow this game sold a lot of copies" rather than "wow, the people that HAVE bought this game seem to really like it"

For instance, someone might pick up Final Fantasy VII because a lot of people say it's the best game ever. I don't see people picking up say Modern Warfare 3 because "it sold a lot of copies"
