Are we at the point where some carnivores will literally say that they could eat someone because they are cute? Is this where we've gone in society? I know it's not meant to be taken literally, but the idea of eating someone because they're cute is wrong in many ways. If it's an animal, then it's cruel. If it's a person, it's also cannibalism. Why is cruelty and cannibalism so present in a figure of speech? This is something that should stick with fairy tales like Red Riding Hood and not in typical speech.
I will say this. I feel bad for my 3 year old cousin at my stupid family reunion today. My crazy aunt said that to him, and he took it literally until it was explained to him. Poor kid started to cry saying "I don't wanna be eated [sic]!"
It's a dumb phrase, and as a vegan, I think it's even dumber than most people would, I'd imagine.
