What are you planning to do with it? They are pretty expensive and can't really be used for gaming.

I just like the sleek look of them. It's mainly to be used for schoolwork, writing, web-surfing and downloading. I will play Football Manager on it.

I mean the main draw of an ultrabook is the slim style. But you will pay a premium for that. Otherwise it's pretty much like any other laptop of comparable specs.

not worth it compared to an actual laptop. the look and portability are nice, but portability is used loosely as decent laptops are far more useful and still pretty damn portable. be mindful of the keyboards kinda sucking from the ones i've tried. price wise uh... a decent to good laptop can be gotten from 300-600. ultrabooks basically start at 600 and go up from there.

You guys make good points... I guess as far as price goes I should look for something that will be similarly effective for $200 less.

...man, then you're looking at some barebones specs there. if gaming doens't matter at all then you could probably find some cheaper i3s or if you're lucky an i5 within the 200-400 range. if gaming matters a bit, then make the range 300-500 and find something running an A6 or A8 because AMD made that line of chips for specifically low budget high level gaming (as in, can run most modern games today on decent settings). those should be dropping due to the newer chips in that line, so yeah.

the ultrabook equivalent of the 200-400 i3/i5 though? gonna cost you 600-900.

I don't do PC gaming aside from Football Manager, which only needs the specs to cover large info databases.

You're paying for style. Whether that's worth it to you or not is up to you.

I can pay for style on a cheaper laptop too though probably.

standard link, discounts + free ship.

of those, the best one under 400 is still one of AMD's. >_>;

(though it says 1.5, it naturally OCs to 2.4 when needed and you can manually put it to that level, the chip's literally designed to overclock itself and is put at a high voltage as a result).

...though keep in mind as you start to climb the low 400s, competition like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834158284
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246308

shows up.
which is to say, 'not really much competition as they'll be very similar except the amd one's graphically superior by miles.'

basically in cost, low = AMD. mid = AMD with a couple Intels. high = Intel with a couple AMD (but your battery will tank - these are usually desktop replacements or ultrabooks).

depending when you leave though, prob best to just wait until there's another sale going on. recently best buy was selling a laptop with an i3 in it for $310. no hdmi, but hey.
