I was just wondering what the method is for deciding which board people will post regularly at, and which they'll lurk at.

Like I assume one of the biggest barriers for making the jump from lurker is having to make an account and having to post an introduction topic (as some boards like to mandate), but we have no mandatory introduction topics, and you already have an account if you're browsing this board.

Not really. I'll occassionally visit EP, PotD, and CE if my faith in humanity is unnatural high at the moment, but that's it. Despite every social board losing its activity, this one is still the best. Nothing's really changed and that's the most amusing thing.

Not really sure why, but I lurk quite a few places (not just on gamefaqs either)

The only places I really post are in the board for whichever game I'm playing through at the moment, or here during contest season. I never really work up the energy I guess to continue posting here during the offseason, but I still habitually view the board from time to time. Can't really give you a better explanation that that though

This is my signature.

This is the only message board I still frequent, but I used to be more active at a couple other boards. Most of the time, it was because it was a smaller community and it didn't take much to become a known regular, whereas here there's a fairly high standard expected of users to become notable.

Nowadays, I lurk here (as opposed to being active) mostly due to time constraints. I don't have the energy necessary to maintain any kind of real presence so I mostly just watch and occasionally poke my head in and add something.
