Ratner wasn't one of the writers of the movie, and personally I think the writer should be saluted, that was hilarious and within the context of the cheesy movie, pretty great.

Referencing one of the worst comics ever, while it is a funny line and good for some circumstances, ha well, probably not right for the tone of this movie.
