From: Achromatic | #051 Gripe with board 8 as a whole # 1: You guys are a bunch of egotistical jerks, that's my job!
I forget what the project was, but I was wanting to do this really cool and creative project that had nothing to do with users and over a long weekend where I got sick it purged. However a writeup topic I hadn't updated in awhile was bumped for like two months straight. One of them I really wanted to do, the other was just another generic writeup topic. That really pisses me off and makes me want to not do things on board 8 when they happen. "Oh cool if it is about the users I get a billion bumps because people NEED these short writeups for their soul" but when I want to branch out and do something creative and fun I barely get five posts at times. This has become less of a problem since Doom has been so successful but it really just grates at me how there have been times throughout the years that a dumb user topic will stay around just 'cause of the users but a neat idea I might have actually pursued purges because it doesn't feed anyone's god damn ego.
I bump anything that seems relevant to its topic creator and isn't dreadfully bad. I have always maintained this. I am not an egotistical jerk. Quite the opposite, in fact, I suspect you may complain of my being too lenient, too passive, too benevolent. I am OK with this, however, as I'd rather live a life as free from genuine conflict as possible and be accused of such things. :D

As good evidence to support my claim, please note that I have bumped offspring of this Disney influx over the past few months several times. Now, there's something else you might take out on me -- my complete ambivalence toward Disney. But the point is, while it doesn't have a lick to do with me, I kept it alive. I would have done the same for your topic!

My point was, we certainly aren't all a bunch of egotistical jerks. You see, I get that people generally don't literally mean everyone when they use blanket terms like that, but this actually very slightly rubbed me the wrong way even though I acknowledge it's all somewhat tongue-in-cheek. I've tried to save so many topics from the purge over the years. It is, somewhat shamefully, almost a passion of mine with Board 8. But it's a good passion!
I am sorry, Chris, that I failed to save your topic. I have failed you.

"Intimidation tactics". I see drakky awards points for the effort but results remain unmentioned.

You're messing with me! You're messing with me, aren't you!? You're making fun of me, aren't you!? Aren't you!? You definitely are! I'll murder you!
If so, I basically redeemed Board 8 by overwhelming Sir Chris with niceness.
Gross. Vitriol and intimidation tactics are what make Chris entertaining. It's not a bug; it's a feature. Well, if he stops posting, then I locked that feature. No more vitriol and intimidation tactics for you.

Cats land on their feet. Toast lands peanut butter side down. A cat with toast strapped to its back will hover above the ground in a state of quantum indecision
I have literally never seen you before. I have never for the life of me understood how people can come into these topics and expect anything of note to be posted about them. What possible problem could I have with you? Did you kill a puppy of mine as a child and then used advanced alien technology to wipe my memory of the event? Seriously, post some more and then maybe I'll have something to say about you.

Oh boy here we go.
And here... we... go!
No, but really I've already covered it. You are a very whiny person (on here) which you've countered with that you do it so you aren't that way to others, which is something I can understand. I just wish you could find some way not to abuse this board as horribly as you do. Perhaps take up additional hobbies such as every time you feel like making a new topic just stare at a wall for a day. A whole day. I think it will lead to some important introspection, and more importantly we won't have to see any of your topics because you won't make them. It is a win/win, consider it.

Yessss
The only thing I have bad to say when I think of you is I didn't get the chance to brutally betray you in that Hunger Games project. I was so going to epically betray you. It was going to be awesome. I feel like you've been so static over the years that it is pretty hard to dislike anything much you do unless someone disliked you from the start. Like if someone scripted a Ryoko-bot to take your place it would probably be pretty easy because I don't think you've changed all that much over the years and your posting style never really has stood out to me.

I've got a combined nothing for you guys. What a disappointment I am sure that must be.
This topic is one of those where I am not going to make up stuff, this really is a SOUL CLEANSE. So sorry for the lack of flaming.

I'm gonna hold this list up for three days as you struggle to think of a single imperfection. Sorry guys.
I would like to actually thank you. After losing to you in last year's User of the Year I listened as you talked about how much effort you put in and I was determined not to be you. I respect the hell out of you and I can honestly say I thought you were pathetic for going through so much effort to win UotY last year. At this point I am sure there are people who are like "BUT YOU DID SO MUCH TO WIN IT THIS YEAR CHRIS WHAT THE HELL" and no, I really didn't. It used to mean something to me, more than I wanted to admit, but any feelings I had to the actual "crown" itself went away when I took stock of what it did to Yoblazer. It left him burned out on the board, there really didn't appear to be any fun in it. So I decided that this year was going to be different and I had my fill of THE GAME. Then I blew everyone out and won it anyway, so that was nice. But yeah thanks for being an example of what I should not be Yo, it actually means a lot to me!
