To clarify, they aren't just trying to complete the Pokedex, but rather own them all simultaneously. (for example, they'd need to get three Squirtles so they could have a Squirtle, a Wartortle, and a Blastoise)

So... are they playing games at the same time that are off-screen? Unless they use the GTS (which I doubt, given the sound of it), they're going to need both versions from each game set (or be strategic about cross-gen availability), and play through BW, RSE and DPP..

I do not believe that they are playing any games off screen. It wouldn't take them a whole week if that was the case.
