My 2nd Gamefly 5 dollar reward kicked in, so I have until tomorrow to burn both of them and save 10 dollars on a used game.
Sadly, Gamefly isn't in the middle of a sale so there isn't much available. After digging through piles of Train Simulator and Press Your Luck 2010 quality games the only games I found that I'm even a little interested in picking up are Resonance of Fate and FF13-2.
Resonance of Fate didn't look that interesting and there were a lot of things I didn't like about FF13, but I'm under the gun here since I only have the day or I lose one of the coupons. If anyone has another recommendation for a cheap 360/Wii game I'd be up for that.

That was one of the reasons I was considering XIII-2. I was watching some battles and it seems like they got rid of that ridiculous 5 second cutscene for every paradigm shift. Although it's been a while since XIII so I might just misremember the timing.
If they made things a little less linear and improved the job system that would probably seal the deal.
Details on the improvements they made?

They made it a LOT less linear. The story is enjoyably stupid (rather than facepalmingly stupid like FFX-2), there're lots of worlds to explore, there are towns, the battles are quicker, the level-up system is better, the characters aren't annoying. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Yeah, I've played both and I'm thinking XIII-2's the better choice. Resonance of Fate is pretty close though, surprisingly. Game's ridiculously unique, and if it were a choice between just it and regular FFXIII, I'd go Resonance of Fate any day. The game's John Woo gunfight battle system is hilariously cool.

I have no idea who you are, but I thank you for arousing me. - Beruga Brawl FC: 3823-8243-5663
-Both games have awesome gameplay -XIII-2 has horrible writing but more varied gameplay -RoF has amazing writing but can get monotonous -XIII-2 has better music -RoF has better, but minimalistic, story -XIII-2 has lots of DLC, your call whether it's a good or bad thing
XIII-2 has better gameplay but the story and characters are some of the worst around, and there were times when the dialogue was so bad I was actually embarrassed to be playing it.
RoF is just kind of....boring. But it looks pretty! I didn't get far enough for the story to get going, the game was certainly more unique than XIII-2.

the story never goes anywhere. and the battle system is neat, but that also never really goes anywhere and after about 15 or 20 hours you start to realize that every battle is exactly the same.
