Aight so I get to work early this morning since I'm the one who's supposed to open the store and all. I usually enter by the front so I open the gate (the back door is a ***** to unlock so I just never use it) and like 10 seconds after the security alarm starts blaring. We usually don't turn the alarm system on because literally nobody has a password except for the owner of the store, who barely works there anymore since his son took over as manager.

So, I don't have a password so I figure out I'll just call my manager to ask him one so I go look up his number, while I'm checking I get a call from the alarm company or whatever, I don't really know who it was except that it was about the alarm. So they asked me what was going on so I just said that I was an employee there and that I didn't have a password, after that they asked me some kind of password for something, didn't really understand for what but it was sure I didn't had it so I just said I had none, they literally said '' alright then '' and hung up.

A few seconds after a security guard came by and asked me if there was a problem, said the same thing, no password blah blah, he laughed and went away.

Then I finally managed to call the manager who said that he had no password so he told me to just wait until the alarm stopped by itself, which I did.

Found it kinda weird to be honest, I could have been a thief who picked up the lock and just by saying that I was an employee without password it would've been totally alright. I had no proofs that I was an employee there on me, I wasn't even wearing my uniform.

Anyway, that was pretty funny tbqh, love having problems like that at work, time passes much faster.

I used to steal these Dragonball Z VHS tapes from my shopping mall all the time when I was 15. It was so easy.

Those VHS tapes were like $24 each, and only had 3-4 episodes.

I've learned that people could almost certainly get away with just about anything as long as they act like you're not doing anything wrong. You occasionally get someone ambitious, but typically people are just too lazy to not take your word on it.

as a student worker at my school's engineering school's IT department, i would walk into offices in my flipflops, ultimate shorts, and a t-shirt and walk out with entire computers and no one ever bat an eye.

i always thought that was strange

I worked in a hospital for half a year before I got an ID badge. All I had to tell security was "I have an internship upstairs". You'd think in a damn hospital, you'd be afraid of me stealing pills or something.

That's pretty crazy, someone who can look natural easily has pretty much access to everything but high-security areas.

If they recognized you as coming in every day then they would have very little reason to not believe you beyond the first time.

Different people worked there, and new people were coming on staff every couple of months. I dunno, I just figured someone at some point would have questioned it.

The pills that people would want to steal are under really, really high security, that probably wasn't a concern.

My brother back when he was a junkie used to have a system to steal stuff from Walmart and then take it back and get money from it with dropped receipts (though since Walmart has stopped giving money back I think... just store credit, might be wrong about that though, I don't return stuff often myself). He like, even got TVs and stuff sometimes.

He did it for years without getting caught. Never actually did in the end, either- he ended up quitting before that and getting (mostly) straightened out.

It's pretty easy to do stuff you're not suppose to and get away with it, yeah.
