Rondo guarded Wade and then James after playing 47 minutes
and now five more! Boston deserves to win this game
i don't know why this fact isn't more publicized, but lebron can be guarded very effectively by small guys who can stay in front of him. jason kidd had surprising success on him in last year's finals. everyone blamed lebron for disappearing but he legit has weird trouble with the smaller defenders.
rondo with the jump ball forced here... and of course we fail to protect the offensive glass

Wade should have been called for the one on Rondo, but it didn't really affect the shot. and that one, who catches that? can't blame the refs for those calls.
Pierce sitting on the sideline for this says it all. He just can't do it anymore. Superstars don't foul out. Pierce is no longer that. Seeing the man whose carried the Celtics for a decade decline like this is sad. Kobe will be here soon and I'm not looking forward to it.
Dwayne Wade has a gift for getting to tue basket unlike anyone we've ever seen. Yes, better than Jordan. His body control and quickness is unparalleled.

they need to change the rules. basketball is not fun to watch when there are so many fouls I don't even care about this game, it's just true. Watching some guys run around, waiting a minute, and then watching one guy shoot a ball from the free throw line does not make for exciting television

rondo is absurd.. i know it won't be enough but jesus christ. I don't like boston, at all but this is just an absurd performance. He did this to close out us too and I was wtfing, now i'm starting to think it wasnt a fluke

Blaming the refs has existed since basketball has existed. If you are a real NBA fan you know this, and you don't cry conspiracy or blame Stern for it.
From: TheConductorSix | #175 Trust me when I say you must be a new basketball fan because I watched Basketball in the 90s when the Refs allowed fouls and hand checking.
Heat Knicks, Spurs Knicks, jazz bulls...ugly. Remember pistons spurs in the 2000s....woof. Oh god no I'm not saying we go back to the days of the Bad Boy Pistons. I said change the rules, not eliminate them.
A proposal that Simmons made in his most recent column:
"There's a very easy fix just tweak the rule so it's like the defensive three-second rule. If officials determine that a player who's not involved in the play was intentionally fouled for the specific reason to put him on the line, it's a technical foul and the player's team keeps possession. We'd never have to watch Hack-A-Shaq again."
EDIT: He also said this, and because I love Simmons I'll post it: "Here's a good rule in general for all professional sports: If something sucks, you need to make the appropriate rule change so it doesn't suck anymore. This isn't rocket science."
i don't have a problem at all with the overall level of physicality the refs permitted and punished in this game - but i do have a big problem with the way it was slanted, especially on the two pivotal plays of the game (the no-call on rondo getting crushed, followed by the and-1 for wade)

Boston's a jump shooting team. Miami is constantly attacking the hoop. Pierce, their main guy at attacking the hoop, had fouled out.
you can't just look at free throws and expect it to say anything. the call on Rondo is obvious a legit gripe, but you can't just look at the numbers like that.

That's basically the point I'm making, yeah.

I'd like to see a shot chart in general, because I feel like the Heat shot far more from the perimeter than the Celtics did. And even so - 33 fouls to 18 is ridiculous, is it not?
