Still can't believe they canned CSI: Miami but let CSI: NY roam free.

I don't watch either regularly, but from what I've seen lately, the quality of the two is about the same and the cost of CSI:NY is much much lower than Miami's was. It's almost certainly not going to last much longer (the entire franchise may be done in two or three years), but it's a fairly wise move to keep it and open up Friday with it.

Plus, it being the Friday night opener is probably good for Community. (and The Mentalist in Miami's old slot is great for CBS)

Yeah, I guess if it's a cost thing it makes sense.

It's really hard to criticize CBS sometimes. This schedule is balanced and logical.

WTF @ them wasting Two and a Half Men like that. Airing it after Big Bang Theory is beyond stupid - TaaHM doesn't need that massive lead-in at all. Instead, they should have either used it to kick off Monday nights, or they should have left it at 9 and had 2 Broke Girls kick off Monday instead. They'd do a much better job kickstarting the night than HIMYM, which just isn't as strong in the ratings.

HIMYM's ratings spiked considerably this season; 2.5 Men's ratings dove. As it stands, there's not much shelf life left in either show.

I do agree that their schedule is well put together for the most part. I really, really dig the new Sunday lineup. But my God, that's just such a waste of BBT's lead-in power.

It's almost like they're trying to crush NBC's Thursday comedy block out of spite just because they can.

They use the Monday laboratory to cultivate these massively popular abominations of comedy and then send them over to Thursday to crush, kill, and destroy.

I can easily criticize CBS for never airing anything I'm interested in watching. I may someday check out The Good Wife, Persons of Interest, and HIMYM, but none of them are very high up on my priority list. If not for Big Brother in the summer, I wouldn't have any reason to watch that channel during primetime.

Heh, I was half expecting them to move BBT to Fridays at 8:30.

I like how NBC counters by moving 30 Rock to 8PM in its farewell season.

"This show's already dead, BBT, so have fun pissing all over its corpse for 13 weeks."

I kinda feel bad for Up All Night at 8:30 but I kinda don't.

Looking at Wikipedia, it does seem like HIMYM's ratings have improved a fair amount from last season, yeah. And there's no denying that TaaHM isn't the juggernaut it once was.

But still, I've never really been sold on the idea of HIMYM leading off the night, when most of their other sitcoms would probably do a better job of it. It's certainly better than kicking it off with Rules of Engagement or something, though, so I don't have too much of a problem with it... I just don't know why CBS is breaking one of the biggest rules in scheduling:

When you have a massive hit, use it to make another one.

Well they only have one new sitcom on the schedule, and it's probably better off sandwiched between HIMYM and 2BG than it would be between BBT and Person of Interest.

I think in a sense they're looking at post-Sheen 2.5Men as a new show that needs to grow (or in this case re-find) its audience, and re-pairing it with BBT is a good form of rehab. They're investing a ton in Ashton Kutcher, right?

Although Wikipedia says that overall this season's ratings for 2.5 Men were UP from Sheen's last season, so maybe I'm wrong. Did the new season start strong with the intrigue over Kutcher and tail off towards the end maybe?

It started off huge before falling to the 11-13 million range. I don't think the fall is entirely Kutcher's fault, though; it's also been a nasty spring for every show, ratings-wise.

The rehab theory is a really cool take on it. That does make sense. It's still not what I'd do if I were in charge, but when you put it that way, it definitely seems a lot less asinine.

For some reason, it took me until I actually read through this list to realize that there isn't a single show on CBS that I care about other than The Mentalist, and even that one's iffy with how mediocre this most recent season's been.

Would any TV buffs care to explain how moving the show to Sunday nights helps CBS? I remember hearing it was one of the most viewed shows on the network, though I think I might be the only one under the age of 60 who enjoys it.
